JHS Senior Wins State Championship at UIL Academic Competition

Joshua High School is on quite the roll of earning the top spot in various competitions!

The latest top champion this spring is Senior Allison Geddie, who earned First Place at the State UIL Academic Spring  Meet for Editorial Writing with 15 points! Allson also placed 6th in Headline Writing at the state contest. What made the accomplishment even more special is that Allison entered the contest as an alternate to replace another student that could not compete.

"I knew Allison was something special the first couple of times I worked with her," said JHS Teacher Celeste Zachry, who is Allison's UIL coach for writing. Working with her in UIL has been an absolute blessing. She takes in everything, asks questions, and enjoys live. It is fabulous that she took this opportunity and proved to the entire state how very worthy she is."

Allison is also eligible for TILF scholarships through UIL. Students gain eligibility for TILF scholarships by competing in the state meet in any event.

Allison follows the recent accomplishments from the Spirit of Joshua Indoor Ensemble winning the WGI World Championship and the NJROTC program being named the top unit in Area 10 (covering most of Texas.)
