Owl Baseball Clinch Co-District Championship; #2 Seed in Playoffs
Playoff time is almost here for Joshua Baseball, and the boys ended their regular season with a bang!
The Owls defeated Midlothian on Friday night 3-2 in walk-off fashion! The win, along with a Cleburne win over Ennis, gave the Owls a share of the district title with Corsicana.
“This bunch doesn’t quit,” said JHS assistant coach Michael Snapp. “They’re a talented, confident squad that plays really well together, and they have a lot of fight in them. I’m not surprised that we found a way to win this game. This group has shown time and time again that they’re going to do everything they can to try to scratch out a victory.”
As a result, Joshua and the Tigers met Saturday morning in Waxahachie for the number one seed for the playoffs. Corsicana won that game 9-4, and Joshua will be the #2 seed heading into the bi-district round of the playoffs. The Owls will take on Royse City in a best of three series.
The Bulldogs are 17-14-1 overall and 10-4 in district 13-5A. They are led by Kansas State Commit Tyson Neighbors, who led the DFW area with 11 homeruns on the year. Neighbors also pitches for the Bulldogs and has a fastball reaching 95 miles per hour, along with a difficult slider that can reach 80-83 mph.
