JISD Board approves hire of two administrators

During the regularly scheduled May meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve the hiring of two administrators.
Toby Cox was named Executive Director of Student Services. He will oversee Counseling, Child Nutrition, Transportation, Club eXcel, Health Services and Safety and Security.
Cox has served Joshua ISD and its students since 1995 in numerous roles. He began his career with JISD as a teacher at Joshua High School. He spent 10 years in the classroom before moving to the counselor position at JHS. He became Assistant Principal at Staples Elementary in 2008 before being elevated to the Principal at the campus in 2012. Since 2020, he has been the Principal at the Joshua Ninth Grade Campus.
Cox earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Services and Development and a Master’s degree in Education from Tarleton State University.
Darriel Ervin was named Assistant Principal at Joshua High School.
Ervin began his career in education as a science, computer technology and physical education teacher. He has also taught math and social studies while coaching basketball, football, powerlifting and track and field. He most recently served in Everman ISD as an Assistant Principal at the high school level. While there, Ervin oversaw the Special Education, Athletics and Physical Education and CTE departments.
Ervin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A&M University and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Tarleton State University.
