March 2023 School Board Recognitions

At their March 27 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family. They highlighted the parents who participate in the Family Literacy Program and Adult ESL class, the members of Joshua High School swim team, the JHS UIL One Act Play cast, the JHS Policy Debate team and the girls seventh grade A and B basketball teams from Nichols Middle School.

The Family Literacy Program and Adult ESL Class promotes at-home strategies to engage families in reading, listening, speaking and writing in English. Parents recognized were: Maria Cruz, Adriana Salazar, Yesenia Medrano, Laura Hernandez, Martha Soto, Luisa Cervantes, Kris Gonzalez, Maria Galvan, Marcelina Castro and Rosario Andrade.

March 2023 School Board Recognitions

Many JHS swimmers advanced to the Regional Swim meet, and one team member made it to State. Team members recognized were: Samantha Link, Brooklyn Vallejo, Anna Creach, Sophia Bustillos, Ayden Jalali, Eli Hoot, Zach Boydston and Braxton Galbreath. Donald Palmer advanced to State in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. Donald placed 10th in the 100 Butterfly at the 5A State Meet.

March 2023 School Board Recognitions

The JHS UIL One Act Play cast members recognized were: Hope Flowers, who received an All-Star Technical Medal for her role as Stage Manager, Redding Herr, who received an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast Medal for his role as Paul, Ava Justice, who received an All-Star Cast Medal for her role as Rosalind and Kennedi Boren, who received an All-Star Cast Medal for her role as Charlotte Hay.

March 2023 School Board Recognition

The JHS Policy Debate Teams competed at the UIL State 5A Policy Debate Tournament in Austin on March 17-18. Both teams advanced to day two, qualifying for the TILF scholarship. Cole Anderson won third place Speaker Award for 5A. The team of Jaxon Dial and Cole Anderson placed fifth in 5A Policy Debate, while the team of Mofoluwake Olajide and Ella Farrell received medals for qualifying as octofinalists.

The NMS seventh grade B team placed first in the Lonestar 8 season. Players are: Maddie Brown, Kensey Doss, Miranda Flores, Kinley Gibson, Presley Hubbard, Cadence Pool, Klowie Ramsey, Amelia Rigney, Sarahbeth Smith and Madyson Taylor.

March 2023 School Board Recognition

The NMS seventh grade A team placed first in the Lonestar 8 with an undefeated season. Players are: Kinlee Alexander, Maddie Allen, Lexi Bunch, Lyndie Freeman, Chloe Knippers, Markie Lain, Joslyn Miller, Hadley Soto and Alexis White.
