March 20, 2023
Four Joshua High School students capped off their Spring Break by winning medals at the UIL State CX Debate Tournament!
The duo of Cole Anderson and Jaxon Dial placed fifth in 5A Policy Debate, while the pair of Ella Farrell and Mofoluwake Olajide made the top 16. Anderson also achieved third in the 5A Speaker Award.
By reaching the top 16 out of 54 teams and advancing to the second day of the competition, all four students earned the opportunity to apply for the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation Scholarship.
The teams did extensive research and then debated the affirmative and negative sides of the topic: “The United States federal government should substantially increase its security cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity.”
Congratulations to these students who represented JISD so well!
