JHS Boys and Girls Soccer Players Selected to All Johnson County Teams

Joshua High School was well represented on the

 

2020 All-Johnson County Boys and Girls Soccer

 

teams.

The Boys team includes four Owls, led by junior

 

Griffin Gayler as the All-Johnson County MVP.

 

Gayler led the team with 15 goals and eight assists,

 

guiding Joshua to a 12-5-5 revord overall and a

 

second consecutive playoff birth.

 

Junior Nolan Walker was tabbed the County

 

Defensive Player of the Year, who scored three

 

goals with six assists while protecting the Owls'

 

back line.

 

Junior Mario Miranda was the top goalkeeper in

 

Johnson County, having a 0.95 goals against

 

average while finishing up his third season as

 

starter.

 

Thad Goodling was named Coach of the Year after

 

leading the Owls to the playoffs for a second year

 

in a row.

 

The Lady Owls compiled a 12-4-3 overall record.

 

The team had two players make the first team in

 

Senior Alyssa Stanley and Sophmore Karen

 

Miranda. Stanley led the Lady Owls with eight goals

 

and 15 assists.

 

The second team included sophmore Ashley Jordan,

 

Freshman Tatumn Shank, Junior Anna Yates and

 

Junior Valerie Greer.

 

Joshua Junior Kylie Criner earned a split decision

 

for Defensive Player of the Year. Criner accounted

 

for two goals and shut down the back line for a

 

defense that gave up an average of under a goal a

 

game.

 

Junior Reagan Easter was one of two players to

 

earn All-County Midfield Player of the Year by

 

scoring 12 goals and adding three assists.

 

The All-Johnson County superlative awards are

 

selected by the Times-Review based on all-district

 

selections, statistics, team success and coaches’

 

nominations.
