November 2025 School Board Recognitions
At their November 17 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family.
The Board recognized the JISD Special Olympics bowling team for their hard work over the past few months in preparing for the Special Olympics bowling tournament held on October 30.
The student-athletes who participated are Avery Johnson, Gabriel Perea, Gavin Baker, Francisco Aguirre, Colton Sheldon, Jean Bell, Elizabeth Taylor, Moises Velazquez, Sidney Jaxson Lee, Amelia O’Neil, Valerie Munoz, Jaxon Spratley, Lexi Monds, Bryan Luce, Cadyn Anderson Stroud, Lizzette Torres, Raelyn Morrow, Kadin Warfield, Abby Sutton, Cade Johnson, Caleb Rotermund, Jayden Camarena, Chris Jones, Isaiah Gervais, Athan Spratley, Keegan Overstreet, Ryder Gonzales, Payten Nickell, Corbin Estep, Evan Vawter, Daniel Gutierrez, Penny Anderson, Deimy Armendariz, Paola Mendoza-Delgado and Jordan Patterson.
Coaches and volunteers are Nicole DeTommaso, Cinnamon Geddie, Rebecca Couey, Jamie Johnson, Katie Graves, Vickie Spratley, Elyse Stroud, Laura Luce, Deborah Baxley, Presley Noojin, and Nicole Baker.
Thank you, Pin Center Bowling Alley in Cleburne, for donating lanes so these students could practice!

The Board recognized Joshua FFA Livestock Judging team members for qualifying for the National American Royal contest and represented Texas as the sole FFA team in the contest. Joshua placed 3rd overall, 2nd in placings, 3rd in sheep and goats, 6th in cattle, 8th in swine and 8th in oral reasons. Team members include Cady Cory, Keeli Clark, Montana Aikman, Tatum Byrd, and alternates Caden Graham and Decara Hemsath.

The Board recognized the JHS Boys Cross Country team for their historic team season, marking them the first team in school history to compete at the State competition. Team members recognized were Nathan Aguirre, Edward Hernandez, Dom Gutierrez, Granger Quinn, Lane Sealy, Braeden Quinonez, Jaxson Kirchmann, Angel Espejel, Peyton Ray and Coach Jeff Brooks.

The Board recognized the JHS Girls Cross Country team for their remarkable season, qualifying them for the Region 1 UIL Meet. The team includes Rhyan Dollar-Daugherty, Lyndie Freeman, Karen Palicios, Estrella Rios, Elexee Ray, Ella Creech and Kynli Miller. Dollar-Daugherty and Freeman also reached the State competition.

The board recognized the Lady Owls Varsity Volleyball Team for their historic undefeated season in district play, securing the District Championship for the first time in 44 years. Team members recognized were Kaylee Elrod, Rebecca Duran, Baylie McClinton, Ruby Vincent, Reagan Gage, Ava Abbott, Heidi Walker, Brelie Galbreath, Kensey Doss, Natalia Belisle, Katherine Colbert, Braedyn Holland, Addison Litke, Kinlee Alexander, Savannah Trammell, Madi Lacey, Kylie Davis and Cady Cory.
The Lady Owls’ accomplishments were even further enhanced by several individual awards the players received, including:
- Natalia Belisle – District MVP
- Madi Lacey – Defensive Player of the Year
- Braedyn Holland – Setter of the Year
- Kinlee Alexander, Kensey Doss, Ruby Vincent and Kaylee Elrod – First Team All-District
- Ava Abbott and Katherine Colbert – Second Team All-District
- Heidi Walker and Reagan Gage – Honorable Mention
- Coach Jordan Whitworth – Coach of the Year

The Board recognized the Nichol Middle School volleyball teams.
The 8th Grade A Team earned a 1st place finish at the Cleburne and Kennedale tournaments and 2nd place in the Lone Star 8 district. The team included Emma Aiken, Zalee Baker, Hadley Barnett, Landrie Casey, Kinley Davis, Ava Gillaspie, Abi Kirkland, Ava Pair and Nichole Stockton.
The 8th Grade B Team earned 2nd place in the Granbury tournament, 1st place at the Kennedale tournament and 2nd place in district. The team included Tinley Ables, Cherlyn Cordoba, Piper Eubanks, Bailee Fortune, Mia Lucio, Pia Milly, Kinsley Mohammed, Kinley Murphy, Riley Ortiz, Lily Rhodes and Willow Valdez.
The 7th Grade A Team took 1st place at the Kennedale tournament and 2nd place in district. The team included Tinley Dybvig, Laylani Sandoval, Myla Strickland, Lakin Lee, Ansley Rockwell, Brighton Hickerson, Henzley Morrow, Rosalie Henry, Laurel Jones and Berklee Hanna.
The 7th Grade B Team earned 2nd place at the Granbury and Kennedale tournaments and 1st place in district. The team included Reagan Perkins, Presley Matthews, Bentley Winner, Ellie Philpot, Brooklyn Carrizales, Maggie Rush, Abigail Hammae, Coraline Johnson, Annie Puckett, Madison Najor and Summer Nail.
The 7th Grade C Team won 1st place in the Lone Star 8 district. The team included Annagrace Wood, Abigail Sandoval, Emmalyn Gonzales, Avery West, Penelope Jackson, Alexis Dang, Aria Cruz, Hayley Rodriguez and Paisley Watson.

Also, the JHS yearbook staff presented the Board with a copy of the 2025 JHS yearbook.
