North Joshua student to perform at Stage West Theatre

North Joshua Elementary's Bridgette Packeer will grace the Stage West Theatre stage with a play she wrote and acting in two plays next weekend!

The first-grader submitted her play "What Makes You Special" for the Festival of the Kid playwriting contest run by the Fort Worth theatre and was chosen as a finalist. Bridgette was invited to two writing workshops with professional play directors, who shared their expertise. Afterward, finalists resubmitted their play and Bridgette was one of four to be awarded a spot in the Youth Scene category. She also auditioned to be an actor in the student-written plays and was selected for parts in her play and another play.

Bridgette is determined to continue her involvement in theater production, including performing and writing. Her experience with Stage West has been so inspiring that she is already planning what she wants to write for her next play.

Bridgette began acting at age six and was cast as Ivanka in Casa Manana's play "Once." During the production of this play, Bridgette and her family learned about Stage West and the opportunities they provide for local students, including their playwriting contest.
