Joshua High School Navy JROTC Cadet Jaren Vickers signed his National Letter of Intent with the Virginia Military Institute to continue his academic career and compete in rifle at the collegiate level.

Cadet Vickers was joined by his family, fellow cadets and instructors Lt. Col. Davidson and Master Chief Linville to celebrate this accomplishment.

During his time with the Joshua NJROTC, Cadet Vickers has competed at Navy Nationals three times, the Army Marksmanship Unit's National Air Rifle Championship twice and the All-Service Championship twice. He also qualified for the National Junior Olympics this year. In his four years with the unit, he served as a Platoon Commander, Administrative Officer and was a member of the Academic Team.

Earlier this year, he was awarded a $200,000 scholarship from the United States Navy. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering.
