May 2026 School Board Recognitions
At their May 18 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family.
The board recognized the Joshua High School UIL Academic team for their accomplishments this season. The team recently won its ninth consecutive District Championship and 16th District Championship since 2006. Students recognized were: Tobias Hollmann, Presley Noojin, Jacob Pena, Austin Rees, Logan Breedlove, Steven Moore, Brynlyn Carroll, Avery Miller, Sarah Ingram, Christina Sevilla, Nolan Girtz, Trevor Martin, Kyler Martin, Lincoln Kolhagen, Gadiel Santana, Tobin Davis, Payton Hewett, Autumn Jones, Brian McCormick, Briana Rios, Lyla Walker, Audrey Villegas, Liam Flanigan, Shikah Pokhrel, Jacob Balderson, Tessa Wright, Elijah Weatherly, Haley Schooler, Savannah Trammell, Subrav Pokhrel, Kaylee Yuan, Hiya Patel, Peter Mantilla, Guadalupe Villanueva, Douglas Cowans, Autumn Allen, Addison Peugh, Maria Cetares, Sophie Leon, Guadalupe Villareal and Adelyn Moore.

The board recognized team members from the FFA Livestock Judging team for their accomplishments this year, which resulted in a District Championship, Area Championship and a State qualification. The team is ranked second in the state. Team members recognized were: Keeli Clark, Montana Aikman, Decara Hemsath, Cady Cory, Caden Graham, Brody Turner, Tatum Byrd, Cutter Davis and Kolbi Clark.

The board recognized JHS NJROTC Cadet Ethan Henry, who is a fourth-year cadet with many exceptional accomplishments. During his time in the program, he distinguished himself as both an exceptional student and athlete. A member of the varsity rifle team, Ethan represented JHS at the JROTC National Championships and represented the State of Texas at the National Junior Olympics. He is also a member of the school’s shotgun team and competed at the State Championship last summer.

The board recognized the JHS Varsity Girls' Golf team for their successful district and post-season performance this year. The team earned a 2nd place finish in District 8-5A. Senior Kaylee Yuan was the individual district champion for the 4th consecutive year, which qualified her for her 4th straight state tournament. At the state tournament, Kaylee tied for 2nd place. As a team, they advanced to the Region 1 Tournament in Lubbock. Team members recognized were: Kaylee Yuan, Lilli Smith, Avery Miller and Grace Gleason.

The board recognized the JHS Varsity Girls’ Soccer team for their successful season, which earned them their 18th consecutive playoff berth. They are the Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Team members recognized were: Lauren Ellis, Kynli Miller, Joslyn Miller, Hannah Day, Markie Lain, Taylor Gorman, Chloe Griswell, Peyton Davis, Kynlee Carrizales, Kelley Ogle, Gracie Davis, Presley Hubbard, Kennedi Novian, Hazel Curs, Nevaeh Fielder, A.J. Steenbergen, Julie Morrow, Dillyn Hammons, Ava Fuller, Haley Schooler, Addyson Cook and Austyn Puckett.

The board recognized the JHS Varsity Baseball team for their 2nd-place finish in district play. The team is the Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. 20 players were named to the Academic All-District Team, five players were named to the Academic All-State Team and five players have signed to play collegiate baseball. Team members recognized were: Nate Chittum, Kallin Whisenant, Jaxson Philpot, Brayden Payne, Kade Boone, Jonah Johnson, Tre Everett, Alek Aguirre, Landon Lillagore, Rene Torres, Cade Coleman, Grayson Williams, Casen Cobb, Trevor Hernandez, Alex Rubalcaba, Cash Criner, Caidyn Bufler, Riley Pfeil, Dylan Rogers, Cody Rogers, Hunter Strebeck, Max Mata, Hank Berkner, Xavier Grijalva, Connor Hait, Jamieson Clements, Hagan Chambers, Will Bowling and AT Becca Duran and Lexi Bunch.

The board recognized the JHS Varsity Boys’ Soccer team for their district and postseason success. The team is the Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Team members recognized were: Maverick Ramsey, Braeden Quinonez, Demetrius Folsom, Granger Quinn, Tristyn Howard, Angel Espejel, Dotun Ogunkoya, Josue Monreal, Thomas Bostem, Subrav Pokhrel, Cayden Howard, Josh Martinez, Nate Gonzales, Judah Molina, Javier Pena, Mario Elizondo, Esteban Salas, Dakota Ellis and Carson Kilcoin.

The board recognized the JHS Varsity Softball team for its impressive season. The team is Bi-District Champions, Area Champions and Regional Semi-Finalists. Team members recognized were: Molly Young, Landrie Durham, Taylor Proffitt, Bella Hernandez, Shyanne Strawn, Zaylee Masters, Leilanie Sam, Evelyn Tate, Julia Stewart, Isabella Lambert, Kinlee Alexander, Alexis White, Faith Rice, Braighley McBeath, Bella Brown, Miranda Flores, Kaydence Trammel, Brynlynn Carroll, Kayla Ortega, Gentry Durham, Payton Marshal, Izzie Martinez and Peyton Icet.

Representative Helen Kerwin presented a certificate to Assistant Principal Jamise Narcisse and Principal Kim Cassidy from Elder Elementary and JISD for earning a spot on the Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll.
