May 2025 School Board Recognitions

At their May 19 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family.

The board recognized the Joshua NJROTC for completing one of its most successful years, having been named a Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors and named Most Outstanding Unit in Area 19. Cadets representing the NJROTC were Brooklyn Reames, Brayden Picchi, Sam Garcia, Rose Brown, Damiana Figueroa, Tobin Davis and Cooper Dent.

The board recognized the Lady Owls Varsity Softball team for their successful season. The Lady Owls placed third in the District, are Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Coach and team members recognized were: Coach Ashley Benson, Baylee Jones, Serenity Vaught, Taylor Proffitt, Molly Young, Shyanne Strawn, Landrie Durham, Avery Klein, Bella Hernandez, Ali McKillip, Zaylee Masters, Leilanie Sam, Julie Stewart, Evelyn Tate, Kinlee Alexander, Isabella Lambert, Alexis White, Anna Terrell, Miranda Flores, Faith Rice, Emma Summerhill, Gentry Durham, Izzie Martinez and Payton Icet.

The board recognized the Varsity Girls Golf team for qualifying for Regionals after their second-place finish at the District tournament. Team members recognized were Ellie Kindler, Kaylee Yuan, Lilli Smith and Whitney Dial.

The board recognized Varsity Girls Tennis team members Kaitlyn Tate and Hannah Cox for their successful year, where they placed second in girls doubles at District and qualified for Regionals.

The board recognized the JHS UIL Academics, Speech, Debate teams and One Act Play. The team won its eighth consecutive District 8-5A Championship with 570 points. Twenty-six students advanced to the Regional meet at Texas Tech University, where JHS finished sixth out of 55 schools in attendance. Brianna Schooler advanced to the State meet in the State Ready Writing contest. The students recognized were: Folu Olajide, Jacob Wright, Thandeka Kabo, Jacob Pena, Brianna Schooler, Shane Waits, Lincoln Kolhagen, Nolan Girtz, Austin Rees, Trevor Seigler, Oscar Pena, Julia Pena, Christina Sevilla, Sarah Ingram, Noah Johnson, Ella King, Emma Hand, Aiden Gresham, Emma Lopez, Layton Haydin, Joseph Buhl, Jordan Thompson, Emily Leon, Audrey Villegas, Shikah Pokhrel, Rylee Watts, Presley Noojin, Tobias Hollmann, Sushanta Neupane, Subrav Pokhrel, Hiya Patel, Mary Stiles, Mallory Goodwin, Macey Dormady, Brian McCormick, Emma Rodgers, Payton Hewett, Julian Bustamante, Kiley Jones, Kaylee Yuan, Jewell Bullard, Redding Herr, Matthew Carter, Morgan Ansley and Jaydon Tryon.

The board recognized the Varsity Owl Baseball team for winning the District Championship with a 13-1 record and earning the Bi-District title. Coach Carrizales was named District Coach of the Year. Nine players earned All-District awards, 11 players earned Academic All-District and two players earned Academic All-State honors. Players recognized were: Gavin Massey, Cooper Bosher, Jaxon Philpot, Nate Chittum, Thomas Rodriguez, Oakley Boatman, Tre Everett, Landon Nicks, Landon Lillagore, Rene Torres, Casen Tetens, Brayden Payne, Casen Cobb, Trevor Hernandez, Alex Rubalcaba, Kade Boone, Colton Burks, Brodie Walls, Dylan Rogers, Cody Rogers, Hunter Strebeck, Kallin Whisenant, Hank Berkner, Xavier Grijalva, Drake Hatcher, Conner Hait, Andy Albarran, Cade Coleman, Becca Duran, Coach Carrizales, and Asst. Coaches Zack Allen, Ryan Parham and Jake Nelson.

The board recognized the JHS track and field Area and Regional Qualifiers: Kyndall Bethell (pole vault), Morgan Collier (discus), Rhyan Dollar-Daugherty (800M, 1600M), Lyndie Freeman (1600M, 3200M), Markie Lain (pole vault), Alyx Walker (pole vault), Dawson Coffee (pole vault), Jack Merrell (pole vault), Edward Hernandez (3200M), Brayden Picchi (1600M, 3200M), Breck Walker (pole vault) and Sergio Mata (300M hurdles).

The board recognized Joshua FFA students who participated in the State FFA CDE contests. The Livestock Judging Team placed third at the State Contest, qualifying them for the American Royal National Contest in October. The 2025 State Contest Qualifying FFA CDE teams: Livestock: Keeli Clark, Decara Hemsath, Montana Aikman, Tatum Bryd, Caden Graham and Cady Cory. Agronomy: Cydnie Fincher, Dakota Cave, Presley Jordan, and Ethan Welman. Cotton: Alexis White, Lillibeth Short and Markie Lain. Plant ID: Whitney Dial, Charles Cutter Davis, and Tatum Byrd. Wool: Kybdall Bethell, Delaney Dickinson, Jolie Cox and Ellie Kindler. Wildlife: Presley Jordan, Cyndie Fincher, Ethan Hemsath and Jadon Welman. Forage: Presley Jordan, Cyndie Fincher and Dakota Cave.

5-19-25 School Board Recognitions-Joshua FFA

The board recognized members of the Joshua High School Fishing Team of Rene Torres and Hayden Pasket. They qualified for Regionals and State. The State tournament is on May 31 and June 1 in Conroe.
