March 2025 School Board Recognitions
At their March 31 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized many members of the JISD family.
The Board recognized the Joshua High School Swim Team for their accomplishments at the District, Region and State Meets. Team members recognized were: Darren Durfey, Ayden Jalali, Emelio Garcia, Donald Palmer, Maddison Brown, Alexis D’Antonio, Aubree Moore, Zoe Smith, Avery Farrell, Olivia Durfey and Sophia Bustillos.
The Board recognized the varsity JHS Girls Basketball team for their successful season. They notched their first 20-plus win season in 17 years. The team placed second in the District, are Bi-District Champions and Area Finalists. Team members recognized were: Lauren Nichols, Jazmyne Brown, Bri Tomerlin, Tyler Pool, Hadley Soto, Austyn Miller, Chloe Griswell, Reagan Koller, MJ Allen, Auburn Aton, Lyndie Freeman, Audrina Garza and Dillyn Hammons.
The Board recognized members of the varsity JHS Football team who were named to the All-Johnson County Football Team. Noah Newman was named Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year. First Team All-Johnson County members are: Eryk Martinez, JD Smith, Maddox Caffey, Eli Martinez and Peyton Noble.
Second Team All-Johnson County members are: Marquize Wilson, Esteban Salas, Bohden Tholkes, Brayden Payne, Benji Schneck, Cash Criner, Mikey Duran, Dre Wilson, Jaxon Wells and Gavin McManus.
The Board recognized the JHS Powerlifting teams for their seasons Regional and State Awards they earned. Team members recognized were: Yaretzy Morales, Isabella Paris, Isabella Grijalva, Jazmyne Brown, Maddi Valles, Alayla Dias, Sarah McWilliams, Colin Leeman, Javier Pena, Samit Jackson, Trevor Meyer, Trent Meyer, Bohden Tholkes, Noah Newman, Mikey Duran and Marquize Wilson.
The Board recognized the Loflin Middle School 7th Grade Girls Basketball “A” Team for their undefeated season in the Lone Star 8 district winning the District Championship Title. Team members recognized were: Lillian Coxwell, Abbigail Gray, Izabell Gray, Avery McCoy, Taniah Pace, Sophia Perez and Brylynn Varela.
The Board recognized Nichols Middle Schools 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team for their back-to-back undefeated District Champion titles. Team members recognized were: Elexee Ray, Ella Shronek, Macie Lillagore, Peyton Davis, Halle Boatman, Lauren Eder, Emma D’Antonio, Korie Graves and Mia Hicks.
