Joshua NJROTC sweeps Area 19 Rifle Championships

Over the weekend, the Joshua Navy JROTC rifles team put on a clinic when they hosted the Area 19 Rifle Championships against schools from across Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado!

Every single individual finalist in both the Precision and Sporter categories was a Joshua cadet and Joshua High School teams took the top two spots in each contest.

Joshua Precision A was represented by Brooklyn Reames, Nathan Catoe, Cooper Dent and Riley Woods. Joshua Precision B was represented by Sam Garcia, Gavin Ross, Riley Palmer and Hayden Miller.

Joshua Sporter A was represented by Jacob Rotermund, Alex Glenn, Ethan Henry and Jayden Werner. Joshua Sporter B was represented by Nick Nelson, Brody Motley, Korbin Bowman and Ryder Payne.

The top three finalists in Precision were Reames (1st), whose score in the 45-shot final of 465.3 would place her in good company at the collegiate level, Catoe (2nd) and Kadence Parsley (3rd).

The top three finalists in Sporter were Glenn (1st), Rotermund (2nd) and Werner (3rd), whose performance as a freshman is noteworthy.

While invitations have not been released yet, many JHS cadets have likely punched their ticket to the Navy Nationals competition in Anniston, Alabama in February.
