JISD Police Officer earns top TSSC honor

Joshua ISD Police Department Captain Deloris “DeeDee” Mihalchik has been named the Fall Semester Outstanding Individual Service Award honoree by the Texas School Safety Center (TSSC)!

This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to school safety and security through exceptional personal initiative, commitment, leadership and advocacy. The recipient must exceed legal requirements by implementing effective safety measures and innovative violence prevention strategies.

Captain Mihalchik was nominated for the SRP training book she designed specifically for elementary-age students. The TSSC awards committee described it as one of the most creative and impactful approaches they have seen for helping young students understand SRP training instructions.

Captain Mihalchik will also be a finalist for the state award, which will be presented at the TSSC conference in June.
