JHS NJROTC take top spots at Area 19 rifle contest

Last weekend, the Joshua Navy JROTC hosted the Area 19 Rifle Championship and performed at an exceptionally high level!

Joshua High School teams topped both Precision and Sporter categories and earned five of the top six individual places. 

The Joshua Precision A Team, who took first in the category, was represented by team captain Cooper Dent, Brody Motley, Jayden Werner and Ethan Henry. Cadet Dent took first high individual, with cadets Henry and Motley taking second and third, respectively. 

The Joshua Sporter A Team also took first and was represented by Jacob Rotermund, Ryan Walley, Davin Footitt and Kaydi Stone. Cadet Rotermund placed first, while cadet Footitt earned third. 

The rifle teams were recognized at the School Board meeting on Wednesday night.

Both teams will travel to the Navy Service Championships in Columbia, Missouri, in February, where they will compete against the best NJROTC programs in the nation.
