3 NJROTC cadets earn $200,000 Navy scholarships

Join us in congratulating Joshua Navy JROTC cadets Nolan Sharp, Jaren Vickers and Hunter White for each earning a $200,000 scholarship from the Navy! The cadets can use this Navy scholarship to a school of their choosing. 

Cadet Sharp has been in NJROTC for all four years and has served as a Platoon Commander and Executive Officer. He is also a member of the Precision Rifle Team and has competed in numerous national competitions. This year, he qualified for the National Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs for a third time. He plans to attend Texas A&M University at Galveston and major in mechanical engineering. Afterward, he plans to enter the explosive ordnance disposal field.

Cadet Vickers has served as Platoon Commander and Administrative Officer during his four years with the NJROTC. He is a member of the Precision Rifle Team and has traveled to many national competitions. This year, he qualified for the National Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs. He plans to attend The Citadel and major in mechanical engineering. He will continue to compete at rifle at the NCAA level. Cadet Vickers has aspirations to become a military pilot.

Cadet White has also been in NJROTC for all four years. He has served as a Platoon Commander and Academic Officer. Cadet White is a member of the Precision Rifle Team and has taken part in national contests. He plans to attend Norwich University to major in chemistry. He will continue to compete at rifle at the NCAA level. Afterward, he plans to commission into the Navy and enter explosive ordnance disposal.
