English as a Second Language (ESL)
 

Content based ESL is offered on all campuses.  ESL strategies to assist the English Language Learner in the acquisition of academic language are incorporated in all classes. The ESL teachers ensure that English Language Learners have access to all supports available on the campus. ESL instruction is guided by the general Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and is designed to assist the students to pass the state-mandated assessments as well as help the student make the transition into mainstreamed English classes and community life through the incorporation of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS).
