Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Human Resources Department is to provide efficient and courteous HR services to attract, hire, develop, and retain an exemplary staff.

 

 Goals

Effective and Efficient:

By the end of the 2014-2015 school year, Human Resources staff will be cross trained in all areas of the Human Resources Department.

 

Safety:

The Human Resources Department will continue to ensure that criminal history checks are completed and approved prior to any employee, substitute teacher, volunteer, observer, student teacher or contractor enters a campus for the safety of JISD students and staff.

 

Academic:

The Human Resources Department will continue to ensure that JISD hires and maintains at 100% fully certified and highly qualified teachers and instructional aides in all core academic subject areas including English, Reading or Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Languages (languages other than English), Civics and Government, Economics, Arts, History, and Geography.

 

  • Elementary Procedure: All elementary core classroom teachers including special education and intervention teachers must have ESL certification, with the exception of special education self-contained classroom teachers. Newly hired teachers must have certification in order to receive a teaching contract.
  • Secondary Procedure: All middle school English Language Arts teachers including special education teachers must have ESL certification with the exception of special education self-contained classroom teachers.  All newly hired middle school English Language Arts teachers must have ESL certification in order to receive a teaching contract.  
  • PK/Special Education Certification Requirement: All Prekindergarten classroom teachers, with the exception of Prekindergarten teachers in bilingual classrooms, must have special education certification. Newly hired Prekindergarten teachers must have certification in order to receive a teaching contract.
  • Elementary Behavior Room Certification Requirement: All elementary teachers assigned to the campus behavior classroom must have Special Education EC-12 certification and Elementary Generalist certification.
