The mission of the Human Resources Department is to provide efficient and courteous HR services to attract, hire, develop, and retain an exemplary staff.
Effective and Efficient:
By the end of the 2014-2015 school year, Human Resources staff will be cross trained in all areas of the Human Resources Department.
Safety:
The Human Resources Department will continue to ensure that criminal history checks are completed and approved prior to any employee, substitute teacher, volunteer, observer, student teacher or contractor enters a campus for the safety of JISD students and staff.
Academic:
The Human Resources Department will continue to ensure that JISD hires and maintains at 100% fully certified and highly qualified teachers and instructional aides in all core academic subject areas including English, Reading or Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Languages (languages other than English), Civics and Government, Economics, Arts, History, and Geography.
- Middle School: All middle school English Language Arts teachers, including middle school English Language Arts special education teachers, must obtain ESL certification within three years of August 1, 2012. All newly hired English Language Arts teachers must have ESL certification in order to receive a teaching contract.
PK/Special Education Certification: All Prekindergarten classroom teachers must obtain special education certification within three years of August 1, 2012. Newly hired Prekindergarten teachers must have certification in order to receive a teaching contract. JISD Special Services will pay for the certification test and the initial fee to attach it to the teacher’s certificate upon successful completion of obtaining the certification.
