Welcome to 3rd grade science and language arts. My name is Matt Byers. I am the 3rd grade science and language arts teacher.
Class Grading Procedures: Science: Students will be graded for homework and for work they do in class. Students will be graded on end of unit assessments. Students may also receive other grades such as lab work, projects, journals, etc. Homework in science will not be as common as other subjects since the majority of the work will be done in class or lab. Language Arts: At the beginning of each school week (usually Mondays unless it is a holiday) the students will receive a list of spelling words. They will be required to study these words during the week and will be testing over them at the end of the week. Students will also receive grades based on class work in language arts or homework separate from the spelling. Late work: A penalty of 10 points per day shall be assessed on each late assignment. This is a district policy. Sickness and other emergencies will allow a student to not be penalized.
